Good Sex 2.0
Good Sex 2.0
Starting after the family retreat, at Impact we are going to be going through a curriculum called Good Sex 2.0. It is a curriculum designed to create reasonable, direct, honest, genuine, hopeful conversations about sex. Some big ideas behind the curriculum:
1. We’re created in God’s image, male and female
2. Sexuality is a wonderful, complex gift that takes a lifetime to explore.
3. Sex touched every part of us – our bodies, our minds, emotions, spirits, and every relationship from our families to God and everyone in between.
4. Sex affects our brokenness and wrong doing, just like everything else about us
5. Sex can be rescued and renewed by the grace of Christ, just like everything else.
It is our desire to partner with the parents with this. Before we start our series on Dec 7 we want to hold a group discussion in our parent support group on November 29th at 7pm. We will have an overview of what each lesson looks like so the parents can know ahead of time what we are talking about.
The themes each week look like this:
Week One: Sex Messaging: helping kids respond to the cultural message they’re wading through
Week Two: Sexual Identity: helping kids think about the forces that shape their sexuality
Week Three: Intimacy: helping kids think about dating and nonsexual closeness
Week Four: Desire: helping kids understand their appetites and needs
Week Five: Boundaries: helping kids decide what to do with their sexuality
Week Six: Responsibilities: helping kids take sexual responsibility
Week Seven: Do-overs: helping kids experience mercy, repentance, forgiveness, and restoration
Our hope is to let every parent know what we are doing and invite them partner with their child and give them resources to do so.
